Just a 30 minute flight from Auckland is all it takes to begin a very special experience
This unique island paradise inspired the creation of EarthSong, a luxury Lodge where guests are warmly welcomed to days of tranquillity, relaxation and pampering.
Separated from the main lodge and connected by a cobblestone path, each of three EarthSong Ocean View Suites has an entry lobby, adjoining en-suite, and large bedroom with king-sized bed or twin option.
The Lodge features high vaulted ceilings and beautiful timber French doors throughout. These together with the thickness and subtle curves of the adobe-finished walls create an ambience of timeless comfort and luxury. Sun-baked private courtyards entice guests to bask with book and wineglass at hand, or just to be at one with the music of birdsong and the hum of honey bees feasting on the colourful garden blooms.
A world away…
Each suite has its own breath-taking view of Tryphena Bay and the Hauraki Gulf beyond. By night the magnificent Milky Way spreads its starry glitter over EarthSong
Complimentary fresh flowers from the EarthSong garden, fresh fruit, freshly baked cookies, coffee, a range of teas and a fine tawny Port are all replenished daily.
EarthSong has been created in harmony with nature. An atmosphere of subtle sophistication blends with the lush subtropical landscape surrounding the Lodge. Using recycled re-usable and renewable building materials, owners and hosts, Carol and Trevor Rendle have honoured their vision of a luxury lodge in a sustainable environment.
About Carol and Trevor…
Trevor Rendle is the person whom guests first meet on arriving at Claris airfield and turns the complimentary transfer from airfield to Lodge into an informative journey with humorous anecdotal tales of life on “the Barrier”.
Carol Rendle takes responsibility for front of house hostess duties which she manages with grace and quiet self assurance. Attentive to the needs and requests of EarthSong guests, no detail is overlooked. As an award-winning florist in her former life, Carol’s artistic side is expressed everywhere from the bouquet of flowers which welcomes guests in their Ocean View Suite to the vegetable and herb gardens which supply the lodge.
Chef Trevor has earned a fine reputation for his classic and contemporary cuisine since the luxury lodge opened in 1999. The six years of planning and 3 years of developing the lodge on a 5 hectare remnant of an early settlers’ farm on Great Barrier Island has fulfilled Trevor and Carol’s determination to make a life together in this beautiful island of New Zealand.
Carol not only looks after guests and gardens, but administration and housekeeping management also fall under her umbrella, as well as assisting Trevor in his kitchen domain. Carol creates delicious desserts, cookies, amazing sorbets and ice-creams.
